Old flames mashup

Hamish Reid is an Oakland (California) based photographer and videographer. This site introduces some of his non-commercial still images, with subjects ranging from urban and desert landscapes, through "people" shots and portraits, to lightscapes, architecture, and manipulated images.

Hamish specializes in the photography of the familiar — local landscapes and buildings, people, everyday intimacies, household and workplace items — and the collision of the surreal and the familiar that's always a part of life. Some of the images shown here are the result of digital manipulations; many are basically as-taken, with minimal cropping or color correction. Some of the images date back to the film era and were taken with a variety of 35mm, medium format, and large format cameras; most are more recent, having been taken with a bunch of DSLR and point-and-shoot systems.

Much of the work featured here is available for purchase as fine art prints or various digital media on request (via the contacts mentioned below); a very limited set of images is also available directly through Hamish's Imagekind.com store.

Hamish's other web sites include the Around Jingletown photoblog, Photolalia, Mistrale, and the California Driving Guide. He is also loosely associated with several other Bay Area artists including Barbara Holmes, Scott Reilly, Victoria Skirpa, and Laurel Nathanson.

Hamish's studio is in the Jingletown district of Oakland. You can contact him via email by clicking here for a reCaptcha-protected email link, or you can send him snail mail via USPS at PO Box 12941, Berkeley, CA 94712, USA.
